I18n: Terms & Conditions

This is where you will meet your lawyers from the start-up phase again, if not before. So be nice to them and pay their bills promptly – after negotiating a good deal, hopefully.

Even if you have already drawn up clear terms and conditions and contract templates for your German business based on the German Civil Code (BGB) and all other requirements, these are of little value in other countries. If, for example, you want to sell your goods via online shops that are actually based in the US, the legal basis must be appropriate.

In addition to the contract requirements, you must also obtain the necessary approvals in the destination country and ensure compliance with all other regulations that apply to your products and services. This is certainly where most of the work needs to be done, and it depends heavily on your specific circumstances, so I can’t offer any general recommendations or instructions. You’ll need to discuss this in detail with your attorneys.

By the way: Nothing I write here constitutes legal advice within the meaning of the German Rechtsdienstleistungsgesetzes. The content has been compiled to the best of my knowledge. I am not a lawyer (but I know a few, if necessary).
