Any German company that has found customers in Germany (and here and there in Europe) will sooner or later look to international markets. This whole section is written in English and covers many of the aspects I have experienced since 2004 in doing business with international customers. The focus is on the US, but much of it is also applicable to other markets.

Confidence and Self-Confidence
As an entrepreneur you know that confidence is a very important ingredient for business success: Confidence in people, markets, and the future. Anyone who wants to break out of their familiar surroundings and enter new markets in addition needs self-confidence in their own ability to deal spontaneously and reasonably with unfamiliar people and markets. Everybody is an alien almost everywhere in the world.
This makes it all the more important to talk to people who have already taken one path or another in the world. Not necessarily with your own products—after all, who likes to contact the competition? However, the basic tasks for expansion are similar for almost all industries, especially in the software sector. The I18n section of this website is intended to provide some guidance and best practices on how to approach these basic tasks and avoid mistakes – and thus also costs.
Step by step
“Think big – start small” is one of the ITIL principles and also applies to all agile processes. It’s about doing things in the right order and letting the success of each step shape the next step.
The order of the topics under ‘Startup’ and “Operations” in this section is therefore not random, but should be worked through in sequence. If there is a showstopper somewhere, it usually makes little sense to continue working on next topics because you the the previous results. It is better to solve the challenges for the start step by step…
